In response to many emails about the not-yet-avaiability of my book in electronic format, the publisher writes in an email:
You won’t be able to get the book from our site for quite a while, but the book is currently in process at Amazon, Apple and Google to be converted into their individual formats for ebooks. Unfortunately, we have little control over that time frame. I hope that Amazon and Google will have their ebook versions available within the next few weeks with Apple to follow. In the meantime, of course, the physical book is available. I hope this helps.
I hope it does too. This is outside my control. Time to rediscover the great smell and texture of dead trees!
Could you ask your publisher to send it on over to Barnes & Noble, as well?

Basically, you’re doing this wrong if a book composed in a word processor has to be “converted” to an E-book. Lemme guess: By scanning and OCRing in India?
Then again, look at the attention to detail on and in the book’s cover.

Will there be any provision for those of us with the dead tree edition to get an ebook for free? (If not, I understand). Quite a few computer science books I have include a coupon for a free .pdf of the book inside (a format more useful than any proprietary ebook format because it can be viewed on any device).

Scotty. Publisher's response is no. Thanks for asking.

Yeah, converting to e-book format should take about 10 minutes. There is clearly something else going on here, I hesitate to speculate what.
